Terms, payments and fair play
Plain-language rules for playing BattleMaps and for anything you buy inside it.
1. What BattleMaps is
BattleMaps is an online game. The world map is divided into tiles of roughly one square kilometer. Claiming a tile marks it inside the game only. It does not give you any ownership, licence, lease, easement or any other right over real land, property or territory, and it carries no legal or official meaning whatsoever.
2. Game rules
Each round hides 100,000 treasures at hidden locations. A regular treasure scores the whole percentage of the world already claimed, plus one point (1–100 base points); an active multiplier can increase that score. Of those treasures, 100 are Super treasures worth a flat 1,000 points, unaffected by multipliers. Bonus tiles can grant taps, multipliers or Signal Detections. Daily missions award 50 points when completed and claimed. Once every treasure in a round is found, claims clear and a new round begins. Lifetime points, awards and trophy collections remain. Regular trophies may be traded or wagered in battles; winning a battle transfers the loser's wagered trophy, while an inactive battle ends without a winner. We may adjust tile size, treasure counts, scoring, allowances and prices to keep the game balanced or working.
3. Taps and allowances
Free taps regenerate at 100 per minute, up to 5,000 at a time for standard accounts or 50,000 with active Premium, plus applicable level bonuses. At 00:00 UTC, free taps top off to the allowance. A limit of 300,000 free or regenerated taps used per UTC day applies; purchased extra taps remain usable beyond that limit. Tap bundles contain 10,000, 60,000, 300,000 or 1,000,000 taps. Purchased taps do not expire and are spent after available free taps. Guest play is a one-time, local practice run with 10,000 lifetime taps, not a daily allowance.
4. Purchases and billing
Payments are processed by Stripe. We never receive or store your full card details. One-time tap, Sonar and Signal Detection packs are charged immediately and credited when payment clears. BattleMaps Premium costs $7.99 per month and renews automatically each month until you cancel. Prices are shown in US dollars and exclude any taxes that your jurisdiction may add.
5. Cancellation and refunds
You can cancel Premium at any time through "Manage subscription" in the in-game store, which opens the Stripe billing portal. Cancelling stops future renewals; your Premium allowance stays active until the end of the period you already paid for, and no partial refunds are issued for the remainder. If a renewal payment fails, Premium ends immediately. Because virtual items are delivered instantly, purchases are non-refundable except where consumer law in your country requires a refund. If you were charged in error, contact us and we will make it right.
6. Virtual items have no cash value
Taps, tiles, points, trophies, awards, tools, treasures and other in-game items are licensed to you for personal, non-commercial play. They are not property, hold no monetary value, and cannot be sold, transferred, exchanged, cashed out or redeemed for money or anything of real value. If your account closes, or the game ends, unused virtual items are forfeited.
7. Fair play
One account per person. Do not use bots, scripts, automation, multiple accounts, modified clients, or any technique intended to gain taps, points or treasure locations you were not granted by normal play, and do not attempt to probe, reverse or interfere with the servers. Breaking these rules can result in removal of points and badges, forfeiture of purchased taps without refund, and suspension or deletion of your account.
8. Accounts and data
You can try one local practice run without an account; an account is needed for live progress, scoreboards and battles. We store your email, display name and gameplay data such as claimed tiles, taps, points, finds and purchase records so the game and your receipts work. Payment data is held by Stripe under its own terms. You can request deletion of your account and associated gameplay data at any time.
9. Availability and changes
BattleMaps is provided "as is", without warranty of uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may update, suspend, reset or discontinue features, rounds or the whole service. If we change these terms materially, the updated version is posted on this page and applies from the date it is published.
10. Map data
Map imagery and geographic data come from multiple providers, including OpenStreetMap contributors, CARTO and Esri, under their respective licences. Attribution appears on the map.
